On October 15, the finals of the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition 2025 concluded at Zhengzhou University. Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) achieved a historic best performance with 4 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medals, ranking second in Hubei Province in terms of gold medals. The university also made a breakthrough by winning its first gold medal in the “Red Journey” track.

This year’s competition, themed “I Dare to Venture, I Can Create”, was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, relevant government departments, and the People’s Government of Henan Province, and co-hosted by Zhengzhou University and People’s Government of Zhengzhou Municipality. The event attracted 6.19 million projects involving 24.43 million participants from 5,673 universities across 161 countries and regions. A total of 4,720 projects advanced to the finals, including 1,544 on-site projects, and 516 gold medals were ultimately awarded.
WUT places great emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship education, adhering to the principle of “promoting teaching and learning through competition.” The university launched its project solicitation in March 2025, which received enthusiastic responses and active participation from all affiliated schools. Multiple industry experts were invited to provide comprehensive and targeted training and guidance for key projects. The quality of the projects and the standard of roadshow presentations were continuously improved, laying a solid foundation for the outstanding achievements in the finals. The award-winning projects focused on addressing China’s critical “bottleneck” technologies, covering areas such as marine equipment, electromagnetic materials, and integrated circuit thermal management, showcasing WUT’s strong capability in integrating disciplinary strengths with national strategic needs.

During the competition, the “China International College Students’ Innovation Competition 2025” was held. Xu Qingsen, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, delivered a keynote speech at the conference. President Wang Fazhou was invited to participate in Songyang Forum Roundtable, where he shared the university’s experience in cultivating students’ innovation and entrepreneurship competencies in the context of the AI era.
WUT has been invited to join the World University Students Innovation Alliance as a member of its second cohort. The alliance integrates resources from enterprises, investment institutions, and industrial parks to provide platform-based support for transforming students’ innovative achievements. By promoting innovation education research and collaboration among its members, it continuously advances the development and transformation of innovation education models. The alliance currently comprises 22 renowned overseas universities, 34 key domestic universities, and 21 well-known enterprises.
The achievements in this competition serve as a vivid demonstration of WUT's outcomes in innovation and entrepreneurship education, marking a new breakthrough in the cultivation of innovative talent. WUT will continue to deepen its commitment to this fertile ground, constantly optimize the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, and inspire more students to actively engage in technological innovation. This endeavor injects a continuous stream of youthful vitality into the nation’s innovation-driven development strategy, writing a magnificent chapter worthy of this new era.
