On December 11, the Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals (2025 edition) was officially released. Interdisciplinary Materials (English Edition) of Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) was selected as one of the “2025 China’s Most Internationally Influential Academic Journals (Natural Science and Engineering Technology – English)”, while Journal of Wuhan University of Technology-Materials Science Edition (English) was included in the list of “2025 China’s Excellent Academic Journals with International Influence (Natural Science and Engineering Technology – English)”.

Interdisciplinary Materials (English Edition) focuses on the cutting-edge interdisciplinary frontiers between materials science and other disciplines such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, mechanics, biology, energy, environment, and information science. It aims to publish the latest research achievements at the intersection of these fields. This year, it ranked 51st among 150 selected English-language scientific journals in the category of “2025 China’s Most Internationally Influential Academic Journals”, achieving an International Citation Communication Index (ICCI) of 191.937 and an international citation impact factor of 32. These metrics directly reflect the journal’s widespread recognition and citation by international peers, highlighting its penetration and contribution within the global academic community.

Meanwhile, Journal of Wuhan University of Technology–Materials Science Edition (English), which was selected as one of the “2025 China’s Excellent Academic Journals with International Influence”, has long focused on fundamental research in materials science, frontier interdisciplinary topics, and engineering applications. It ranked 61st among 150 selected English academic journals, with an ICCI of 51.483, demonstrating the journal’s outstanding international academic influence and dissemination capability.

The Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals is composed of core indicators including international citation frequency, international citation impact factor, and the number of overseas citing authors, serving as key measures of a journal’s international academic influence and reach to foreign scholars.

The outstanding achievements of WUT’s two journals in the international influence rankings not only reflect the broad recognition of the university’s research strength in related disciplines by the global academic community but also lay a solid foundation for attracting high-level international talent and expanding international research cooperation channels. Both Interdisciplinary Materials (English Edition) and Journal of Wuhan University of Technology–Materials Science Edition (English) will continue to uphold high editorial standards, focus on frontier areas in materials science, promptly report the latest research findings, promote interdisciplinary integration, and strive to build internationally influential, high-level academic journals.
