Recently, the International Ceramic Federation (ICF) announced the results of the 2026 International Day of Ceramics (IDOC) Best Celebrations worldwide. Recommended by the Chinese Ceramic Society, our university’s themed activities celebrating the first-ever IDOC ranked first overall, earning the title of Best International Day of Ceramics Celebration.

As a global commemorative day formally established in 2025 by ICF, the International Day of Ceramics is observed annually on March 12th. This initiative aims to raise public awareness of ceramic materials’ key role in daily life and cutting-edge technologies. It also seeks to spark an interest in ceramics among the younger generation and to promote sustainable development of academic research on ceramics and the industry around the world. March 12, 2026 marked the first official observance of IDOC.

In active response to the initiative of the ICF, our university hosted themed activities for the first IDOC for Chinese and international students in March this year. The event featured multiple segments, including ceramic heritage, cutting-edge technology, and engaging interactions. Through a wide variety of formats such as science videos, achievement exhibitions, and hands-on workshops, it fully brought to life the unique charm of ceramic science and culture. Thousands of Chinese and international students took an active part in the activities. Through immersive experiences, they deepened their understanding of ceramic science and traditional Chinese ceramic culture. The event has yielded remarkable educational impacts and achieved positive international outreach.

Moving forward, the university will continue to leverage its disciplinary strengths to regularly host high-level science outreach and cultural activities. It will share engaging stories of ceramic science and culture, contributing further to advancing global academic exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
